Step 1: Clean and Prepare the Surface (Including Grout)

Start with a spotless surface. Remove all:

  • Dirt and dust
  • Grease or soap residues
  • Mineral buildup or old sealers

👉 Grout lines must also be cleaned thoroughly. If grout is missing, crumbling, or cracked, repair it and allow to cure fully before applying the non-skid sealer. An unsealed or damaged grout line can compromise adhesion and performance.

Use a tile-safe degreaser or cleaner, scrub as needed, rinse with water, and let the surface dry fully.

Step 2: Ensure the Surface Is Completely Dry

Moisture can interfere with adhesion. After cleaning:

  • Wait at least 12–24 hours for the surface to dry fully.
  • Don’t apply if rain or moisture exposure is expected within 24 hours (for outdoor projects).

Step 3: Final Wipe with Isopropyl or Denatured Alcohol

Ensure oils or residues are removed

  • Before sealing, do a quick wipe with isopropyl or denatured alcohol using a clean microfiber cloth.

This ensures any leftover oils or residues are removed.

Step 4: Apply the Non-Skid Sealer

Use one of the following:

  • 3/8” nap roller for floors or textured surfaces
  • Microfiber pad for smooth tile
  • HVLP or pump sprayer for larger or exterior areas

Apply 1–2 light, even coats:

  • For low-traffic or light use areas, 1 coat may suffice.
  • For wet areas or high-traffic zones, 2 coats are recommended.
  • Allow the first coat to dry to the touch before applying a second coat.
